Shannah States the Obvious

I thought I would share with you a couple of things that I have been noticing since summer began:
1. Casey is almost 9 months pregnant
2. Our studio does not get much cooler than 87 degrees!
3. Casey's feet are swollen like sausages!
4. Casey likes to pass her heart burn and indigestion on to me :( (sympathy pains) We joke that I will know when she goes into labor, even if I am across town, because I feel her pains!
5. Casey is beginning to get super tired
BUT, CASEY...
comes to work everyday get sh** done and rolls with it.
I have decided that
CASEY IS SUPERWOMAN!!!

Do I have the best partner or what? BUSINESS partner, that is! No, it is not my baby no matter how many people think that about us!

Congrats to the most hardcore person I know!

now you can find us....

Last, week we hired Manuel to paint our logo on the side of our building. It's been something we have wanted to do for a long time. People always come to the door & are not sure they are at the right place. After 3 years, we feel official!! Manuel, the sign painter, did an incredible job! He painted it all by hand, super fast and was totally reasonable. Here is his info just in case you are looking to have a mural or sign painted... 214.470.0386.

Weekend wrap up.... according to Casey

This weekend we participated in the Dallas Flea. It was a total success...great vendors, great crowd and great sales! It was hot, but Shannah and I are used to it considering we work in a studio that's 90 plus degrees. With such great vendors, we have started utilizing the bartering system. Shannah scored a custom hat made by local hat designer and maker, Cassandra MacGregor. Her shop is called The House of MacGregor and I am completely fascinated by her work. Check it out if you get a chance. Some other vendors we adore are Leah Duncan, Baby Bean, Petit Four and Signifying Not.

Oh my goodness! It is a HOT Monday with so much work ahead of us. Today we are working with Malina, our amazing stylist friend, on our booth for the California Gift Show and casting jewelry to replace what we sold.

This coming week is Father's Day and I am going home to Atlanta. I am so excited to see my dad and celebrate my grandparent's 60th anniversary!

P.S. Don't forget a gift! We have some great gifts on our site.

Shannah Speaks: Memorial Day 2010

What did you do this Memorial Day?

I can guarantee that I will never for forget what I did! I finished my first Olympic Triathlon @ the Capital of Texas Tri in Austin. In January, I decided to train for a triathlon and raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of my best friend, Justin Sullivan, who lost his fight with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December. Six of my amazing friends, including Casey's husband, decided to follow me on this crazy journey. After 4 1/2 months of training, we packed our bikes, wetsuits, running shoes and nerves into the car and set out to finish what we started. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I met so many great people through Team in Training and LLS, which made the experience even more special. The camaraderie between everyone in purple and green from all around the country was indescribable. My group of friends, Team Good Ass Fried Chicken, were well represented on the route, and we often heard other competitors reading our jerseys and getting a good laugh. Our family and friends were spread throughout the course cheering us on, easy to spot thanks to our GAFC t-shirts. My parents and brother, who came all the way from DC, outdid themselves with hilarious signs. (see pictures) The day after the race, we met the race announcers by the pool, and they were even talking about how great our signs and jerseys were!

I would like to thank all of our family, friends, clients and strangers who not only supported us with donations but with encouragement, as well. We could not have done it without y'all! With your help, I was the #2 fundraiser in the country for the Cap Tex race for Team in Training and #1 for North Texas!

A 1500m swim (which turned out to be 1850m because they miscalculated), a 25 mile bike, a 10k run........I still can't believe I did it!!!! Justin was very much in our hearts the whole day. I only wish he could have been there with us physically, too.

Here are some pictures. I hope you enjoy them!

xoxo,
Shannah
