Weekend wrap up.... according to Casey

This weekend we participated in the Dallas Flea. It was a total success...great vendors, great crowd and great sales! It was hot, but Shannah and I are used to it considering we work in a studio that's 90 plus degrees. With such great vendors, we have started utilizing the bartering system. Shannah scored a custom hat made by local hat designer and maker, Cassandra MacGregor. Her shop is called The House of MacGregor and I am completely fascinated by her work. Check it out if you get a chance. Some other vendors we adore are Leah Duncan, Baby Bean, Petit Four and Signifying Not.

Oh my goodness! It is a HOT Monday with so much work ahead of us. Today we are working with Malina, our amazing stylist friend, on our booth for the California Gift Show and casting jewelry to replace what we sold.

This coming week is Father's Day and I am going home to Atlanta. I am so excited to see my dad and celebrate my grandparent's 60th anniversary!

P.S. Don't forget a gift! We have some great gifts on our site.

Road Trip and Renegade: according to casey

We headed out early Friday morning......
Big Red packed to the max with a tarp on the back due to the weather report. Our friend, Malina, came with us and brought her two adorable dogs, Hank and Lefty. We really suck at our tarpping skills, because we had to stop a mere 5-6 times on the side of the highway to save the tarp from flying off the back. As soon as I said let's just forget the tarp, we started down the road & it poured. Luckily, everything dried and nothing was ruined.
Shannah and Malina introduced me to West, Texas which has the most delicious kolaches I have ever put in my mouth! We got to Austin early enough to hit up some funky shops like Spartan & Bows and Arrows, then we went out to eat with Shannah's step bro and his girlfriend, Tobie (aka Toastie). After a peaceful rest at Malina's aunt's house, we headed to Renegade early Saturday morning.

The Renegade show had amazing vendors from all over the country and great traffic. Perks... shopping for myself, schmoozing with fellow indie crafters, a marching band and the wizard. The show ended at 7 on Sunday, so we packed up and then hit up Amie's Ice Cream on the way out of town. By the time I got home, it was 1 am and my 7 month pregnant self was spent. All in all, fun times in Austin......check out our pics!

according to Casey...

I thought it might be fun to add this new section to the blog. So much of our personal lives influence our designs, the business and the directions we take. I want to let our customers, fans and friends in on the crazy surprises that are going on here day to day. To bring everyone up to date, I need to back up to last fall.....

In September, Shannah took on the great and heroic responsibility of taking care of Justin, her former fiance and friend, during the last 3 months of his life. He was battling a super strain of Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer that had gone to his brain, and had to be with someone 24 hours a day. I was given the humbling opportunity to also spend those last months with him as he came to our studio everyday. We moved our office to the middle of the studio and set up the room with a bed. Justin spent most of the days sleeping a lot, eating many freeze pops and occasionally helping with our chaotic orders. I was an emotional mess, but did my best to keep it under wraps for Shannah's sake and get us through our busy holiday season.

Justin passed on Dec. 12th and left a huge impression on our hearts. He taught me to take life by the horns because you never know how long you are going to be here or what life will bring you. We took a holiday break to spend with our families and resumed our work in January.
As the new year began, so did new surprises. Justin always wanted to do a triathlon, so Shannah decided to set up a team through Team In Training supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Shannah and a bunch of her crazy friends along with my husband, Andrew, and I all signed on. But as life's surprises go, I was about to be hit with a big one. I found out I was pregnant on January 14th, a day before my 28th birthday, and on January 20th the doctor confirmed I was 12 weeks and one day pregnant. Crazy how one life ends and another begins. It was God's plan for me not to know. This fall was about Justin...spring and summer will be about new life. Fast forward to March 1st when Andrew and I found out we will have a BOY! He is due August 3rd and is healthy so far. Stay tuned for the updates on all our crazy happenings.
